Horsepower and mufflers

I have two Briggs engines, one is 8 cubic inches and the other is 9. i was wondering how much power each is putting out.

I am also doing slight rebuilds on both of them but i cannot get the mufflers out. They both have a screw in type mufflers which over the years have become rusted to the block. is it still possible at this point to remove them without cracking them in half (i would like to reuse them so they cant come out mangled)

if the 8 CID has a small gas tank it might be a 2.5 though.

Mine has a pretty small tank.
So your saying 2 types of 8 cubic inch engines were made. Did one just have a bigger jet or something? All allowing it to make .5 more horsepower
