will nitrious do anything??

I have a thunderbird with the 6.5hp clone. I have access to a kit like this eBay Motors: ATV & Quad Sneaky Pete Mini Nitrous Kit w/5 NOS Refills (item 320292715929 end time Sep-08-08 07:07:35 PDT) and I want to know if it will do anything. Has anyone tried it before??

Nitrous is basically liquid oxygen, if you dont add additional fuel some how it will just run way to lean. The kit could work but is very incomplete, its a 1/2 a nitrous set up.

I have run nitrous on numerous automotive engines and it makes incredible horsepower. You have to add extra fuel with the nitrous or you will burn the piston up due to an extreemly lean condition. Nitrous is 33% usable oxygen verses the 21% found in air. The major part of the horsepower boost comes from the cooling effect of nitrous on the incomming fuel air charge. liquid nitrous boils at -127 degrees F and this causes substantial cooling of the incomming fuel air mixture and hence gives a dense charge to the cylinder. A nitrous system would work on a small engine but you need to supply both the nitrous and extra fuel in the right amounts.

The power gain actually comes from the the 36% oxygen by mass that dissociates from the nitrogen and is used by the oxidation(combustion) process. It's in the same league as feeding the engine pure oxygen, but pure oxygen is a lot more unstable than oxygen bonded to nitrogen and has a tendency to explode violently instead of burn controllably. Cooling and air density increases only account for a small amount of power gain.

Considering that you would only get about one shot per cartridge, I don't think that "kit" is worth it.

No need for a 1-2hp fogger setup when the power is already there.

N2O doesn't add any extra power by itself.

It's the extra fuel that the N2O allows you to burn that produces the power.
