Terra-Cat Owners

After over 35 years my brother and I once again own a Terra-Cat. Except for a few items (motor, seat..) the bike appears to be in mostly original condition. I would like to reach out to fellow Terra-Cat owners and would like to know who currently owns a Terra-Cat? Thanks in advance for reaching out.

The Terra Cat was invented by my buddy Mr. Bob Proffer. I helped him weld some frames at the Rankin shop in Durand,Mich. in the 70's. I was off work from GM for acoupla of weeks and I used to hang out with him at the shop. Business was real slow for him as the sales were slow. Bob was a great guy and a heck of a inventor IMHO. He has the patents to the Terra Cat ,but a big corp. started to to build one just like it and wanted to buy him out,but they wanted him to move and run the business for them. He didn't want to move and they told him that he could try and fight them in court ,but they would fight him for years. You can't fight a big Corporation ,so he closed up shop and Terra Cat came to a end. I really felt bad for Mr. Proffer as it was his baby.

I don't think I have any pics of the assembly line. Bob was starting to build three wheelers with the Terra Cat tires and a 2 stroke engine near the end. He was using a fiberglass body that he made . I might have a picture of one of them. Has been a lot of years ago. Well look in my stash of pictures. I am into motorcycles and raced off and on for over 20 years. Still have 5 bikes .I'm restoring several German NSU's . My daily rider is a 1972 Yamaha XS650 .that is my newest bike I own:-)
