Harbor Freight Clone 6.5hp

I need to know it these are any good? Considering putting one on my sears mini I picked up a a swap meet Friday.

Do they make any performance parts or is it more of a do it yourself or not at all deal to hot rod and pull some extra power?

The price is right and they are readily available compared to any other engine on the market right now. If you have some input throw it out here!

If you have the money 20+hp is achievable. Like Strigoi the search button at the top is your friend used it like the force, rely on it. Also before posting in a thread you find with search check the date of the last post (top left of post) if it's over a year old, post a new question.

20hp is right on the edge with these clone blocks. Then again I have seen real Honda jugs blown off so I guess it's really the luck of the draw. But yeah 20hp is no problem, heck a bolted NR or AGK motor could produce that with no problem.

Agreed, I wont push over 15hp with mine just for reliability reasons. But it would be fun to get 20hp out of one.

Yeah 20 is my goal at the moment. When and if I ever reach that goal I will post a video of it running on my minibike.

i'm going to shoot for 20+hp out of mine once i get the roller finished. from what i've read it sounds like 15hp is about max for a clone (reliably).

i'm also swapping in a Honda crank the next time the engine is apart though. one less part to worry about.

I have one on a tote gote right now. It is totally unmodified, I just adjusted the throttle limiter screw all the way out, and it runs great. It is my first clone, and I am very happy with it. Starts on the first pull every time.

I will buy another one in March when they go on sale for $89. Just to have it on hand for the next project that comes along.
