    Coleman observations.

Just saying, there are reasons to want to upgrade things even if speed is not your goal.

I don't care about going fast.... But going to a torque converter, a 60 tooth sprocket, and a predator 224 was a huge upgrade for me in terms of torque for hill climbing. Made it a much better bike. And yes, it will now go 35 even with a governor....but that isn't why I did it. Now I can go 15...

    Odd issue starting my BTX200

Swapped in a Predator 224 so I have something to ride. I hate to say it, but even after I fix it, I think I will make the hi-sun a generator or something....the 224 is a lot nicer....it's worth it for the non-leaking gas cap alone.

    Odd issue starting my BTX200

hmm, well, neither of those could be the case. I generally change oil every couple months and I've never noticed the tube disconnected...I was wondering if maybe water getting into the air filter through the top screw could have made its way to the case...I dunno.

    Odd issue starting my BTX200

Full disclosure, I did order a Predator 224....they are so cheap right now It just seemed like good insurance and the right time to do it, before the prices potentially explode and or availability drops. If nothing else, I have a project I can use a motor that size for regardless of what I do...

    Odd issue starting my BTX200

That would be logical. I'll let you know what I find out when I get around to cracking the case open. Any idea how I could get a bunch of water in the case? I mean, it has been left out uncovered in the rain a few times....but there shouldn't be a route for a lot of water to get into the oil...

    Odd issue starting my BTX200

I've probably changed the oil five times since this started, including a few days ago, so that ship has sailed. It's break in period was in 2021? so its had gallons of oil run through it since then. BUT, the first time I started having trouble I changed the oil and it was a milshake. Looked...

    Odd issue starting my BTX200

Well, people do get into hobbies in different ways. I don't really like working on motors, I prefer them just to work. However, welding new handlebars, fabricating new fenders, etc, that I like. I find the guys who have highly modified engines in totally stock chassis probably as funny as they...

And there we have it. Clear as day. No compression release when hot. Thanks everybody. I never would have suspected there was a automatic compression release without you guys.

    Odd issue starting my BTX200

Tested cold, the compression relief is working. Easily seen actually, more so than I would have thought. I can even hear the air escaping when it bumps. Now I'm going to let it run for 10 minutes and see if I can take the valve cover off without burning myself too much and check while hot.

    Odd issue starting my BTX200

No, just the more northern parts of the northern one.....MT.... where at this moment its 41º and dropping slush from the sky on me. The replace it attitude bugs me as well....but its hard to avoid when motors are so much cheaper than time.

    Odd issue starting my BTX200

I find few things break in that binary of fashion. Unfortunately. Mechanicking would be a lot easier if they did. But I will try it your way.

    Odd issue starting my BTX200

It may be tricky to sort out, because it ONLY happens when the engine is hot. Which seems to mean it has to be a issue with the compression release sticking, rather than valves out of spec.

    Odd issue starting my BTX200

Just warmed it up, confirmed the issue, removed the sparkplug....no issue....replaced the sparkplug, and the resistance is back, so its definitely resistance from air compression rather than some kind of mechanical binding.

    Odd issue starting my BTX200

Just ran it for half a mile, shut off the fuel, drove it until it died....a surprisingly long time....same issue. Very hard to turn over, maybe 150lbs of force on the rope needed to get it to kick over TDC. Impossible to start like that.

    Odd issue starting my BTX200

Sorry for not getting back earlier. It became winter again here and I wasn't messing with the bike. Checked the valves today, they where loose, I re-adjusted to spec, and tested, no change. Same issue. Run for 10 minutes or so, stop and wait more than a minute, and extremely hard to turn over...

    Odd issue starting my BTX200

Hi all, again. Over the winter, my bike developed a strange issue with the engine. If I run it long enough to get hot....10+ minutes.....and then shut if off for 10 minutes.....It becomes VERY hard to turn over, almost feels like is hydrolocked or something...very strong compression, to the...

    Coleman RT200 not running

So I actually had this happen to me. Fixed it by replacing that jackshaft... And then about a month later, replaced it all with a torque converter anyway. I wish I had just done that from the start and saved some money. Its so much better. As for the 16mm to 5/8 issue, I solved that pretty easily:

    Torque Converter for B200R

I used those same parts on my BT200. Everything lined up fine. I had to make a new chain but that wasn't a big deal. Did a few other things at the same time. Biggest issue I had was that I have a 16mm crankshaft but I fixed that:
