Forum Options

I've been changing some things around on the forum lately, and wanted to see what you guys think.

I added the Doodlebug sub-forum, and the Introductions sub-forum. What do you guys think about splitting up the Engines & Modifications section up a bit with a few sub-forums:

tecumseh
briggs
honda/clone

I'll keep the main one open for any other engines , as well as move the existing threads to their respective sub-forum. I'd like to keep it to these three sub-forums, since they would have new posts, and less common motors wouldn't.

Let me know what you guys think about that, and/or if you have any other suggestions for sub-forums, or anything else....

I like the changes so far.

I also like the idea of Engine sub forums.

Im new here, but something I found extremely helpful at other sites is take some of the "best" info from the forums and turn it into static pages, like a FAQ section for noobs. And maybe a TECH or TIPS section where the info is readily at hand and dont get lost in the forums.

I've tried having the sticky pages before, and even with that people still ask the questions unfortunately. Maybe we can give them a try again.

I do like the idea of having tech/tips sections - Will have to see what we can do to get these going...

Yeah people tend to post questions before searching... I know I have been guilty of that one a time or two myself!

I love the Doodle bug forum. I dont read them but there seems to be a lot of folks riding them. I think it is cool that they have a place to get together and discuss their bikes. Just like some of us play with clones and others just really don't even want to hear about it.

I do like the idea of engine sub categories. If you have a certain problem you can post to an audience that has the knowledge to help you out. But at the same time I think that we can all learn a lot about the engines others use and maybe we might get turned on to trying an engine that we have never used. I like them all though. I have everything from a Honda and a clone to Briggs and Tecumsehs. They are all neat in their own way. I'm thinking what ever you decide to do will be cool.

What do you guys think about having another forum, with sub-forums for brand specific mini bikes?

Something like

Mini Bikes
Alexander Reynolds
Cat
Rupp
TrailHorse

And of course we could start out with it being only the most popular brands, and as more topics show up for the less commonly discussed bikes, we can create new sub-forums for each?

Let me know what you guys think about that

I like it the way it is as for keeping a sub forum for the new mini's and to lump all the vintage mini's into a forum as that is how we learn from each other. as for the engines dividing them up should be OK say all the new OHV engines in one and all the vintage flat heads in another, just old school VS new tech and the Honda clone separate.

If I may throw in my 2 cents,

There seems to be as many Doodlebug posts lately as there are for all other bikes.Good call on the Doodlebug sub-forum.

The engine sub-forums are a great idea.Makes it easier to get info on your specific engine.Another good call.

About the only extra forum I could see is one for people to post their unknown bikes, engines, etc for help with identification.

Guess what I'm saying is,Hent you've got it just about perfect IMHO.

i would like a modified db page. im all about DBs but i dont like only seeing questions about chain size and sprocket tooth numbers. i dont know if im being too picky but i feel like im five or six steps ahead of most people with dbs.
