Same here in the Th grade metal shop we made a small tin sugar/ flour scoop and used real lead solder to seal it up, and a hammered out aluminum ash tray . My 86 year old Mother still has both.
We were also allowed to make a screw driver with a poured molten aluminum handle had us use the casting sand and the teacher did the pouring of the metal. That was a cool shop but being ale to make a mini bike that was beyond the scope of our class but I would have loved the chance.

Searcher : Does that mean you are searching for this mini bike LOL or do you still have it ? Regardless it was a very nice project and I like the seat top materal.
I got my first running mini bike in 1966 but I was 22 years old and fresh out of the US Navy and 6 years later I owned my own mini bike & go kart store.
