Azusa Mini Build!!!

Recently a guy at work brought in a minibike frame that needed some welding done. That piqued my interest for a build project myself. That night i got on the internet to do a little research on mini bikes.Recently i purchase a complete Azusa minibike kit with a Tecumseh 5hp engine. After opening the boxes up to verify everything was there i commenced with the build. The first thing in order was to fab up some footpeg mounts. The factory clamp mounts were'nt going to work because the way the motor sets on the plate.I took some 3/4" black gas pipe and welded on some 1/4" flatstock to the end and drilled a 3/8" hole for the foot rest stud.I then welded the pipe to the front end of the motor plate. This gets the foot pegs out plenty far to clear the engine. The next step is to prime & paint the frame & forks.I will paint this one RED!!! Heres a few photos of the mock-up.More to come!!!

Thats looking good... The peg mount turned out nice....
Are you going to run a Tav unit or a jackshaft?? If not and you run a single chain I'd suggest mounting a chain wheel (tensioner) to help keep the slap out of the chain since it will be fairly long...

Sweet looking ! and very bright, I would go with a 60tooth rear sprocket with a 12th clutch with that 5hp tec, them are awesome engines , I have on on a mini with that gearing , you will be moving really fast ,and have alot of top end , if you want to get almost wip lash use a 70th rear sprocket, but you will loose top end good luck with your build Mark

Assembled

This morning i done the assembly on the Azusa minibike. It went together very well.I've heard of complaints about the harware included with this kit.No problems here.I need to get some engine mounting bolts from work tommarow .Then hopefully my clutch will be here this week sometime. For the moment i will run the bike the way it come from the box to see where it needs improvement.More to come.

Very nice , just remember that 72tooth sprocket may hit the ground when doing left hand turns ,especially when turning and hitting a bump, or going up on an approach, otherwise that is looking SHARP great job
