Not into that ratbike look, Dodge?

That particular tank is several years old, and has been banged around on my karts, so it's got a bunch of dents, and there's a ton of brazing on the bottom where a mounting bracket tore off and ripped out the bottom of the tank...but it doesn't leak...I just checked it...

I scored a few bends in 1-1/8" and 1-1/4" tubing from a mower/snowblower scrap pile, so I'll add them to my 'let's make a header' bucket of bends...and I made a simple strap mount for the propane fuel tank...still need to weld it to the drilled frame mount, and weld that piece to the frame...I'll get that done when I tear the bike down to move the engine plate and add j-shaft mounts.

its not that i dont like the rat bike look but the work and all that custom stuff you have on the bike already and all that awsome fab work on the front end i think a dinged up metal tank would ruin the look imo. if it was painted to accent the motor or somthing that would be sweet. but it is also not my bike i was just giving my opinion. do as you please i just cant wait to see the finished product

OK, I'll hit it with some bondo and paint it to match the engine...

This kinda threw me for a loop...

Fortunately, I know a few guys with sheds full of old U.S.-made engines...which is good, since I've got a fondness for old Briggs 5hp flatheads.

I have the Sensation torn apart to work on the frame...

I cut off the engine mounting plate so I can re-size and center it...

I want to re-use the old plate, so the frame took a beating from the chop saw to save cut marks on the plate...nothing so deep that it didn't weld up and sand out though...

The spring tab was cut off the brake arm because the spring is going to be moved to the back of the engine plate, and the brake arm stop tab was cut off because the brake arm is going to be bent outward and up to meet the new footpeg position...

I took the excess width off the plate and made pieces to 'box' it for added strength...

I dropped the engine in and checked for alignment with the location for the jackshaft I'll be adding next, before I tacked the plate on and made side pieces...

Once the plate is finish-welded, I'l fab up some adjustable j-shaft mounts and weld them onto the frame above the scrub brake mounting tabs...

I finished welding and molding the engine plate on the Sensation frame early this morning, and since the weather is nice today, I took my Trail Horse GTO 500 outside to shoot a couple pics in the sunlight, then took it for a ride around the neighborhood...

Jackshaft is next...
