Tecumseh HM100 Engine?

Looking for an education and/or informative links on the Tecumseh HM100 engine.

I take it that this engine is not the same as the "Star" engine, or is it? If it is not... What is the difference?

I just brought home an electric start HM100. The identification # is: 159290M (B) D.O.M. 5026 D

Looking forward to learning more about this engine.

Thanks
~JM~

It's a good base to start with. It's basically a Briggs 5HP, with twice the power. Clearance the rod to .003", remove the governer and parts, port it (Not required), add an air filter adapter and air filter, put a decent pipe on it...and hang on. I've got one in my photos. Check it out. Scott.

Well... So far, all that I've learned is that I screwed up & did not end up buying a 10HP Star like I thought I was. I do have a very clean (new) engine with what appears to be a good amount of potential.

Doesn't anyone know of any technical links that describes the differences between the two engines & what types of aftermarket support are available?

Thank you

The Star weighs about half of what the HM100 does.

Anyone have any serious tech on either the HM100 or the Star. There has to be something out there that hasn't been destroyed by Google.
