Tecumseh prototype

Picked this up today. Not sure if there is a way to track anything on this. I will say "it is heavy as h*ll. The block is cast iron(I think) like a 3 inch thick base. I just about pulled my back lifting it the first time.
Anyway has anyone ever seen one? It would be cool to see what it was for. Tractor?

That engine was a special variation of production engine made for Massey Fergusson for evaluation on one or more of their tractor models. Cast iron blocks were common many years ago for their durability and the extra weight helped with traction for tractors. Back in that era mower shops repaired engines or rebuilt them, not like the present age of junk it and drop a new one in.
