    224 build question

Just an update in case anyone is also running into a similar issue. I talked to Dyno Cams and they said there is a specific core that needs to be used on the 224. It has a different compression release assembly on the cam that is thinner. The only way i could get the cams i have work was to take...

    224 mild build

Did you have any issues with the cam decompression lever/weight hitting the crank? Building (2) 224 motors now, and am struggling with this.

    224 build question

Well i added shims to both the cam and the crank. I added one .006 shim to the crank (side cover side), and one .002 shim to the cam (block side). This gave me some movement on the cam and .014 crank endplay. Unfortunately the crank weight it still making contact with the decompression weight on...

    224 build question

How did you measure the cam clearance when adding shims to the cam? I have been looking all over and can't find anything about that. Thanks!

    224 build question

Yes I did check end play and tried without the side cover gasket. Then it was too tight. The shims make sense. I found them on eBay and ordered. So I will give that a try. I am using an ARC rod. I decided to go a little further with these. Milled and ported head. Should be 12.5:1. Flat top...

    224 build question

Yes it is all aftermarket. The cam needed alot of grinding, but i didnt think that part would be an issue.

    224 build question

Hello! I am build two 224 predators for mini bikes. I have build several 212 and have had many years of experience with the Briggs (in karting). So the 224 has been a little bit of a pain with all of the clearance grinding needed. The biggest issue was the cam with the billet rod. I thought i...

    TAV2 on Baja Warrior

Right now i have a 10t front and 55 rear. I just ordered a 8 and 9t front. i would like to see the engine around 5000-5500 rpm. The bigger issue right now is that when it does shift it pulls the engine down pretty bad

    TAV2 on Baja Warrior

Hello! SO i have been playing with my Baja Warrior 200. The engine is now pretty built (milled head, ported, cam, rod, flywheel, vm22, flat top piston) and i am having issues with the TAV2 torque converter i installed. It is a china version of the TAV2. Currently have the stock weights and...

    gx200 clone knocking

No. It is pretty primative. The valve cover is parallel to the head surface. Drill press table is flat. Did it in 4 passes just holding it on the drill press table. Then finish on glass.

    gx200 clone knocking

Nothing. Only change there was the flat top piston. I read that they are normally pretty deep in the hole. Must have lucked out

    gx200 clone knocking

On a drill press with a milling bit. Finished on glass with sandpaper. I know... Not the best. But head is sealed. Why do you ask?

    gx200 clone knocking

Well looks like the crank is shot. Measuring 1.167-1.170. rod measures 1.183-1.185. here are some pictures. Seems odd that the crank wore so much but not the rod. Oil was very sparkly.

    gx200 clone knocking

It is still knocking. The rod does have some play. Did not Plasti gage it. It has to be that. Maybe I will check it. Is there any chance the crank journal is worn? I don't want to get a new rod and then have that issue. Do you know the correct measurement on the crank journal?

    gx200 clone knocking

OK so i took it all apart again today. Crank end play is .016 which seems good. I checked the piston to head, and the clay didnt work out. Kept ripping. So the piston is .006 in the hole, and was running a .010 head gasket. Went to a .020 head gasket which should be .026 clearance. I ran it a...

    gx200 clone knocking

Thank you. The shims go on the side cover side? I will check the head. I am running a thin head gasket as well. If I have to run a thicker gasket that kinda defeats the head milling :(

    gx200 clone knocking

Hello. First post here. I have been modifying my gx200 clone in a baja mini bike. At first i put in a flat top piston, ported the head, air filter, exhaust, but left the governor in. It has a torque converter so is rarely over 4500 rpm. The next step was to get a vm22 carb, remove the governor...
