That carb is widely used on motorcycles with an elevated tank ,cannot see how that is the problem .On some scooters ,the tank might be 2ft above the carb .

I just googled Bob Sharp to see what’s going on ,and unfortunately he passed away just last week on the 25 of February .I also found out that he got Paul Newman started in his racing career in the early 70’s .

not sure what your circumstances are ,but you can get the powder coat re done if you wish .Many spray paints do not do well with fuel and also scratch easily .

Yes ,that’s an old xl70 ,it’s not my bike I did some work on it a few years ago .I will look for some parts and let you know ,but I do not have a ton of xl70 stuff around .

I would hate to see them riding a yard cart jiggling the crap out of themselves without suspension ,their backs and other body parts probably won’t like it as they age ,hands down they get quads and a helmet .

Anything is possible if you want to fab something up ,many motorcycles were built and ridden at highway speeds without rear suspension ,and many mini bikes were built and ridden without any suspension at all at the speeds you are asking about .

I think the green ones are 1973 .I am in Canada so it’s possible you get different colours than we did though .
