Very well then! Most of us garden tractor pullers builds cranks that way. I'm sure if you will look around from Vogel Manufacturing, Midwest Super Cub, Lakota Racing, and Nichols Performance. They all make cranks the same way. I would highly recomend Vogelanufacturing and talk to Kevin Vogel...
Geoff. On the billet stroker cranks. I would highly recommend bolt on counter weights. Cheaper on cost. So everything can be made out of 1.5" or 2" flat billet steel on the water jet then finished machining on lathe then on the grinder.
Yes. Look on the side of the block. You should see the engine make and model numbers. There's a big difference between GX270 and GX340. Basically none interchange except for a couple things. Like cam, carb, head. There will be size difference between 3 of them parts.
Google garden tractor pulling parts. MWSC, Vogel, Kerber, etc. They all carry billet rods and flywheels for them engines. Cams as well. Have fun with it. My flathead days are over!
Charles- I'm working on a GX270 big bore that's 313cc with long rod and short piston combo. 40mm intake and 33mm exhaust. Maybe go bigger on the head later. Might be able to squeeze 1.650" intake and 1.4" exhaust. Haven't gone that far yet.
Here's what I would recommend. Billet rod for the GX270. ARC Racing has them. Cheap insurance. And it will last lot longer. I went and looked at your other pics and stuff seen that you done blew the stock piston and bent the ARC rod pretty good. I've found a billet long rod and billet short...
