converter

Is there a piece that goes on the Tecumseh HS40 engine that allows you you connect the torque converter guard to the engine end? If so, can anyone describe it? I see how it attaches on the lower end to the engine mounting plate but not sure of how it hooks to the engine. Thanks

Ok finally got the mtd running today and it runs strong and has a lot of low end torque but it's not shifting. This is my first experience with a torque converter so I have no clue what's going on or even where to start. Thanks bryce
