1968-1969 Rupps with 2speed, convert to TC?

I have a 1969 Rupp Roadster that originally had a 2speed transmission. Unfortunately when i got the bike that was missing. New versions of this set up are available from BlackWidowMS, but they are expensive ($300). It's not so much that the cost is high, but the clutch cover (which is also missing) is extremely expensive too. Add both those items and they cost more than the value of the entire bike.

So i was wondering if anyone has tried to adapt a Torque Converter (20 or 30 series) to one of these bikes? It's pretty much the same 2 speed setup on the 1968 TT Rupps, as it would be for the 1969 Rupp roadster, goat, etc. The advantage to using a Torque converter is basically just cost (the entire setup, with a cover, can be had for about $50.) I mean the 'look' will be different, but i can get past that (since the cost savings is hundreds).

I was just wondering if anyone has tried this? and if they have, how did it work out?
thanks! cfh
