1969 Rupp goat

some may remember a little over a year ago I was inquiring on here about the '69 Rupp lineup as I was confused about a bike I was looking to buy. Well its turns out to be a Goat. At that time I could not come to an agreement with the seller on a price so I passed on it. Year later he reslisted it for what I offered so I went up to Tampa and picked it up.

It is no different than it was last year. Notice how its missing the air cleaner, well he gave me a silver original paint Rupp one (from a 1970) which actually was the air cleaner for the bike I bought from him last year :doah: (1970 roadster)

Anyway, its obviously not 100% original, but it is in solid condition overall and not hacked on. Not sure what the original color was just yet, Repop seat on it, 2 speed in good working order (or so I am told)

I have a few questions for anyone that is more in the know about this style Rupp than me:

Was the 2 speed setup a comet on these? I thought Rupp had their own design. this stuff is all newer and I know at least the clutch is not original to the bike.

There is a hole drilled on the lower brace (on the downtubes), should it be there? It does not look like it should I'm thinking it may have been for an optional crashbar.

The tanks on these should be essentially flush to the frame, with the exception of some insulating rubber correct? there are spacers modded onto the the studs, or at least it looks that way.

Still haven't found much for original pictures etc.. on the "goat". Yes I know the front fender is wrong

Yes it probably is a Goat with all the options on it. My Goat jack shaft is held together with roll pins and has grooves cut for snap ring clips. Most I have seen were green, but I had an old dealership shop manual with an assload of minibike stuff, and showed one in blue... Try scraping the pint and see whats underneath.. in an obscure spot under the motor plate or in a weird angled spot where they are less likely to grind of all the original paint..

Is a replacement gas cap easy to acquire for these? Its bigger than a briggs or tec tank probably 1 3/4" The one on it is kinda beat up.

thanks

Hell I've fixed it up, blown it up, parked it up. The original motor is back on it now but not hooked up. I have most all the stuff to build another minibike correct HM50 lighted motor. I got's to get some rings and rebuild it. Fix it all up again.. Quit beating on it..
