you know that wouldn't be such a bad thing in a round about way. that's if the motor was bolted down correct and the side cover also was bolted on correct(torque to spec's) then the cylinder would be sitting true as it can be when honing it out.

Cool, that honing grit is nasty stuff, takes a lot of thorough cleaning to get it lifted off the surfaces and cleaned out. I see you have a manual, so you know that already as Briggs actually has a great explanation on that in their cylinder section. Have fun with it!

Sorry guys ..
The NOS piston showed up , but can't say new since its old unused stock that's 40 + years old..Briggs in correct box.
I never can sit still so opening the Ebay package and grabbed tools ended putting it together like lightning. Perfect ring gap ect.it went together perfect.
Now this top end cylinder restore passed with flying colors.
Compression is perfect runs very efficient. No more filling garage and neighborhood with smoke.
It has 3 times more power output.

The $21.00 dollar piston and $4.95 head gasket was very satisfied result. Ebay..
