I’m new so go easy on me. I have 72 hustler with to much money invested in trying to get orig motor running. I’ve moved on to stock predator 212 from Harbor freight. I know I need to change the torque converter to a 3/4” TAV30. According to the blogs, my question is it’s a right side drive. Does it come with a jack shaft that incorporates the 10 gear for the chain drive on the right side and still make the motor lineup with the driven pulley?
any help please!!!!

Might be easier to avoid the TAV fixed setup and just replace the clutches with a set of 20 or 30 series clutches and order a belt. Pretty common bike so search on here or someone with direct experience will chime in.

Shame you are bailing on the Tecumseh, that's a nicely restored slant engine!

My two cents agree that tec still looks best. And nice build, btw. So I'm no expert but always thought Tecumseh intake and exhaust ran left to right flipped opposite of briggs & stratton engines. Yet your carb looks to be on the right while header pipe comes out the left - just like a briggs. Were the rupp HS40's different? Mind saying more about why it's giving you trouble? There's a deep reserve of engine repair know-how in this forum.

The orig motor will not stay running !!!! If it ever did start it dies and wouldn’t start again. So I’ve had it. I can not find anyone to rebuild motor and make it run like it’s supposed to.
I orderd the tab 30 got here today.
I must be missing some big info cause the flat plate that the driven wheel is mounted to has a huge nose cone sticking out of other side!!! Maybe I’m suppose to abandons the flat plate and try just the clutch and pully????

What is wrong with the pretty Tecumseh engine? It looks like an H35, but I'm no expert. I would most certainly repair the Tecumseh engine.
Why won't it run?
I have had a couple of so called “small engine mechs” work on the motor and they just take my money and screw up the motor! The last great mech. Took the whole linkage for throttle and gov. Loose safety wired gov open and it still won’t start and run. Just want to give it a couple pulls and have it run !!!

Hey there my tav30 kit did not come with the LONG jack shaft!! Did I poss. Get the wrong kit?
I think you can install the driven unit onto the original jacksahft. You can definitely order a shaft the correct length and diameter ot use the original mounting on the frame and keep the sprocket on the right side.

John, slow down here. You asked a question and waited a whole six minutes for an answer. Come on man. First of all, the problem with your Tecumseh is the carburetor. Order three replacement carburetos from Amazon, and try them until the engine starts and runs. Return the remaining two. I am not kidding.

As far as your torque converter questions, the one that Ole posted appears to be a standard Driver and Driven set, not the TAV set. It looks like @ole4 married the jackshaft to the new Torque converter DRIVEN using a set screw stop to a plain jack shaft, to which he mounted a chain wheel.
