5hp Briggs to 22mm Mikuni carb intake manifold

I have come up with my own solutions involving radiator hose. The problem with a welded solution is it offers no control over manifold length, or placement on the engine. Length (and shape) affects performance. And I think the ideal size and shape of a manifold also depends on where you want your carb to fit within your vehicle's engine space. I'm still definitely learning, but like I said, I've had some success. See pic of a Briggs model 8B with slide carb, attached. I've got it running great now -- but only after much fussing with manifold length and size, as well as extensive experimenting with carb jetting. All this being said, I am also getting ready to try swapping the 22mm carb out to a 24 or 26, based on some more information I came across. (I know, the block's intake hole may not be as large as the carb's output hole, but I've heard the venturi size is what matters more -- and particularly in relation to the valve opening). I may be wrong, but I may be right ???
