Alsport Tri-Sport RTS SL body parts

#1
Hi group, I am in the process of building plugs and molds for the 5 fiberglass body parts. I want to offer a opportunity for those of you that may be interested in new body parts. I would like to here from you if you would be interested and what parts you would like. This will help me with a idea of what will be needed to produce and help determine cost.

Thank you,
Mark Saxon

By the 5 body parts i'm assuming you mean, main body, rear cowl, left & right fenders and the front fender, right? Ok with that asked i'll list them by importance (at least my idea & why). Most people purchase these as a rundown roller and attempt to rebuild them.
My list by importance:
#1 Body - There have been people asking for bodies or have an old plastic seat attached. The bodies if left outside deteriorated and many are in poor shape. These are fixable but if a replacement is reasonably priced, thy may just do that. Also the offroad versions used the same body. I think the small frame RTS used the same body also but i'm not 100% sure.
#2 - Front fender. HIGH damage item. MANY have no fender or a trailer/minibike fender on them. The drawback is that the replacements are easy to get at most stores like Tractor Supply, etc. Again price
#3 - Left & right SL rear fenders. A bit of a damage item but most SL's that I have seen had both. There are some NOS available online. Probably the easiest piece the copy because of the simple shape.
#4 - Rear cowl. I list this last as I have never seen anyone building a SL and didnt already have it. Well maybe but I dont remember. They may have had some stress cracking issues as all of these parts do and that will bump it to #3 on the list easily.

Are you going to reproduce them like the originals or just straight fibreglass? The originals were vacuformed ABS plastic with fibreglass backing. I'm assuming straight glass.

I think no one would buy anything with the process that Alsport did, And with todays fiberglass it would be much stronger. About the RTS small frame I too think the seat looked and felt the same. And I filled they both up 100%. About the front fenders all the RTS off road machines came to us out in California with a metal chromed fender, And the first time for the plastic fender came with the Street Legal Machines. The TS machines with the wide front wheel came with the plastic fenders.

Lots of bodies that are deteriorated to the point that they are either faded or broken. One I had was broken and I fiberglassed it but was faded so I ended up going over it with truck bedliner. What I think would sell is newer bodies in custom colors.

Well I never knew that. I thought the RTS trikes always had the molded fiberglass style. Ya learn something every day.

I'm rebuilding my RTS-5 and it sure would be nice if I didn't have to spend hours refiberglassing, removing the plastic, and skim bondo'ing. I would buy a body if available.

My Alsport body parts follow up

Wow, I am sorry I am just now responding to question and comments. I thought if you responded I would get a email notification but I was wrong. I just happen to check this site and saw the comments/questions. So I will check back more often unless there is a way to auto notify me for someone responding. Please coach me if there is a way. Ok the 5 fiber-glass parts are: 1-Seat area, 2-Rear Cowl 3-L&R Fender/Same 4-Front Fender 5-Small Dash Front. The parts at this time will be very much the same as most other American trike body parts (fiber-glass with gel coat). My only challenge is the textured finish they used. I would like feedback on finish type, textured as they are now or a more modern smooth finish? Colors will be close as possible to the OEM orange and I am going to do a lime green close as possible to the OEM Kawasaki green. When you hold my part you will feel the difference ( much heavier and thicker ) I will let you drill your own holes in the part but you can see approximately where the original holes go. ( I will drill the holes if you request, but with out your trike I can not guarantee the fit. ) Please look at the pic's of our first attempt. I am happy with the rear finder but I have more work to do on the front finder. The front finder we had to work with to make a copy from was in bad shape and broke in half.

I also am fabricating metal replacement parts, most alum and steel plate parts are water-jet or plasma cut. I am doing some custom chrome air breathers with large K&N or K&N like filters. More parts and up-grades in the works, my goal is to see the Alsport live on in pristine condition. What parts would you like to see?

Thank you,
Mark

Trisport repop parts....

THere i very slight variation with the main seat section, on RTS-SL AND The reg RTS. THe outside lip edge on the RTS Is a continual one inch, up too the top, and SL,, Had linda more of a tapered angle too it. But would still work on a RTS and someone if they like to RTS Lokk better of which i do, they could trim a little off, AS Far as the Fender,s Tractor supply does not have the Shap design as a REG. Plastic TRISPORT FENDER, so ye you could but the chrome Fender, And they did Have two OFFERings on the fender,s CUSTOM CITY in California THERE Actual offroad version, Had the more custom fiber&plastic Front fender (ORANGE ) I Like the look of the front Molded Trisport Fender.
If there is a possibility to make the main seat section about 3 inches wider, the seat curentley for a little kid. just a sugestion...

I would be very interested in an RTS main body { seat }! I have a few of these and one is hopelessly rotted. The others are fixable but I hate fiberglass work and if the price was reasonable I might take two. I would also be interested in a MTS 30 Body and possibly a RTS 8 I f there are any plans for those. I think if advertised properly there is a good market for all the fiberglass parts and upholstery. Everything else is either available or can be retro-fitted with something else.

Thanks for your efforts!
