Vintage AmphiKitty balloon tire mini bike

My AmphiKitty has all of its axle spacers but the EL Burro I have was missing the rear ones and one front one. My buddy Mike set up a program in the CNC and made new ones for the EL Burro so I can get it going as well. We have found all of the bearing and seal part numbers. I will list everything out when I start assembling the AmphiKitty.

I sent my handle bars off to the chrome shop today. The frame should be coming back from power coat in the next week or so. I plan on cleaning up my axles and hubs this weekend and get them ready for paint. Attached is a photo of the rusty handle bars.

I received my new chain guard from Chris at Michigan Fiberglass. It looks great! Time to start fitting it to the Amphikitty.

The chain cover looks great! I have found all of the bearing and axle seal part numbers. I will post them once I receive all the parts and we are at that point in the build. Hopefully it will help anyone with a ElBurro get it running smooth again.

The frame and forks are back from powder coat and turned out great! I’m on the hunt for some rubber 90 deg valve steams so I can switch out my rear tires straight valve stem. The 90 deg one will make it much easier to check the air pressure.

More parts rolling in. The throttle and brake levers, cables, handgrips, and clutch came from OldMiniBikes Warehouse. The Briggs and Stratton parts from Indiana Engine.

The new 90 degree valve stems came in today. Now I need to get creative and install them from the outside in. The balloon tires are vulcanized to the rim. In the past working on six wheeler tires I was able to use a small screw driver to push it the base. Wish me luck!

I have received all of my bearings, seals, and hardened washers for the axles, and jack shaft sprocket. The only two bearings I need yet are for the front forks to the main frame. I have posted photos below showing each part with part number and were they go so if anyone is restoring an El Burro these are that same parts used as El Burro produced the Amphikitty for Amphicat.

Working on trimming the chain guard today along with making the pattern for the front headlight surround. I’m hoping to have the pattern made by next weekend so I can be ready for the fenders to be repaired and new white fell coat sprayed on all of the fiberglass parts.

Small update today. My decals came in for the engine and I talked to the chrome shop and my handlebars are almost done. I can’t wait to see them with fresh chrome.

I received the material for my seat this week. Thank you to Manchester1 for the information on the best place to buy the material. I was hoping to have the headlight pattern further along this weekend but it didn’t happen. Hopefully this coming week I can get the headlight mold done and make the front fascia. Once that is completed I can repair the fenders and have all of the fiberglass gel coated.
