Anyway to do this?

I have a snow blower engine, not sure of the HP I would say 8 maybe. It has a 1" dia. shaft. Is there a way to put a reducer on that to use a smaller bore clutch like 3/4" or 1/2"?

1" clutches are expensive.

Thanks

I think I saw Oldsalt turn a crank down still in the motor by mounting it on the compound in his lathe and spinning the motor :eek:hmy:

...but then again he knows what he's doing and he's crazy

You can put the clutch on the js??
Sure can. Not terribly hard but a lot of parts involved, an existing jackshaft sure makes things easier. The clutch turns on it's bushing till it engages and off you go. I'm considering that very setup using a belt driven clutch. I have a 5hp Tec off a chipper. I knew it was a 1" shaft engine but for $25 I had to buy, runs fine.

Hmmm... ok I wonder now, doing all of that if it would cost about the same, and woudl be easier to just break down and get a 1" bore clutch and be done with it.

Thanks everyone
George
