Arco chopper 3 resto mod.

Got this bike as just a frame with the other 2 arco choppers I bought and I'm chopping this one up so a full size adult can fit on it. Plans are stretching it 5 inches. Get rid of the sparkle banana seat since it hurts my ass. New foot pegs, engine plate, swing arm and shock mounts.
The forks are bad looks like it was straightened with a hammer. So I'll build new ones that look stock but are wider to fit a larger tire.
The tires/rims I'm using are 6 inch steals 5 inch front and 6.5 rears.
For the engine I'm not sure I have on hand tecumseh h35,hs40, hs50 and predator6.5 will be using a jack shaft.
So far I cut the frame apart and made extensions for the frame out of thick 7/8 tubing milled down the end 1 inch so it acts like a slug and tapped it into the frame ends. 20160815_172846.jpg 20160815_185434.jpg

Got the bike welded back together. Sat on it and I don't like the handle bar position gonna try the taller bars from one of my other arco choppers on it. The bars hit your knees.
Might make the trailing arms tommorow and the engine plate.

The first set of pictures is where I work. These pictures are in the building where I keep my stuff.
I made new rear swing arms modeled after the originals but made them 2 inches longer and used another piece of tubing to link them together instead of the little piece of 1/8 metal that was there from the factory.
I made a new engine plate and made it longer than the stock one. Tested the taller handle bars and there much better. When I make new ones I'll put a forward bend up top for a little more room.
The rear wheel I'm using I have to Chuck it in the lathe and remove the sprocket and move it closer to the tire and weld it back on.

Got to work on this bike a little bit. Got new shocks off ebay, made the new shock mounting bar on the frame.
Welded on the jackshaft mounts, and modified a rear rim i had gotton from ebay cut off the sprocket in the lathe then welded the sprocket back on the hub. AMAZINGLY zero runnout with a dial indicator.
New tubing is in the mail to bend up a new set of handlebars.

Got a little done, started making new bars i copied the arco bars but made them wider than factory to fit a larger tire. The axle to tree is also 2 inches longer than stock to give the bike a slight rake.
im going to bend the bars foward with a hydrolic bender then bend up the grip section and weld it together so i can test out a couple different bends without having to make an entire set of new forks.

Getting it to roll blasted the front rim and mounted it. Stole the seat off my bonanza for mockup (fits like a glove) heres some pics next to a factory bike for size comparison.
