if you ride on the sidewalk you can get ticketed and if the cop wants to be a dick they can take the mini too. mini bikes generally (95% of time) aren't street legal so you're risking the chance of getting in trouble with the police any time you ride them on the street.

i got arrested for DUI on my old Cat mini bike. :hammer:

I have the exact same one.

Watch for rattles and loose bolts.

Oil the clutch bushing often.

This group is specific to the baja big wheel mini.
minibajaownersgroup : Mini Baja minibike Baja Motorsports

The brake on that big mini is not as effective as I would have hoped watch yourself going fast down steep grades and on loose gravel.
Foot pegs are very week if you come down hard on them there is very good chance you will break them.

Stay off the side walks and roads, odds are you'll wind up in trouble with the law
The bike is made for the bush....

The brakes on this bike are freaking awesome, Just tighten them. Barely pull back the brake lever and it stopped. No squeeking. Back tire just stops so if I am on a dirt road I slide for a bit

I road it for 3 hours this morning throw the park, alley, streets and I had two cops pull me over. They said what are you doing I said I just bought it and trying it out. They said fine and be safe

Just hope I don't get stopped by one of the same cops again. Hmmm have to think of another excuse :doah:

I have one of the MiniBaja's too. I bought it used for $250, just changed the oil, cleaned the carb and a new spark plug and it has been good as new. I got it so I could ride with my son who has a DB30. We ride all over the streets and luckily haven't seen one cop yet. We also have 90 acres of undeveloped land behind my house where we ride. Thank god the housing market went to hell or it would be developed by now.

I also swapped out the 20t jackshaft input sprocket with a 13t sprocket and now the top end hits somewhere around 30-31mph. It lost a little bit of low end torque but it's not bad. I will put the 20t sprocket back on when it gets colder for some winter riding in the snow.

Bought a Baja Carbon Love it but I also broke it

The entire jackshaft assembly broke the smaller sprocket shaft was screwed up on the threads and the clutch slides off with out warning I am parking it until i have the money for a new jackshaft or for the tav2 both not cheap! Got mine for 250 also and the kid didnt take care of it at all tires are bald or close to it and there was no grease anywhere on the chains or sprockets and the oil was black as night and the spark plug was covered in black soot. I had a good time driving around my neigborhood for about 4 days until it broke it! I have been bored ever since when i am at home! waitin for the next paycheck! :hammer:

I still will never part with it! You'd have to kill me!:2guns:

Best thing you can do is change the oil after a few hours of riding and then take time to check ALL the bolts are tight. Sometimes the factory assembled parts aren't tightened down so good.

As for upgrades, what kind of stuff did you have in mind?

Shelby,
I'm new and looking into buying one. Looks like they are loads of fun! Where did you buy it new at so cheap a price? everywhere I look they want at least $500-$600. SO if I can save some cash I would be very grateful.

go to craigslist.org look under "minibike" or "Mini Bike"
I did. In my area only one for sale. Its not running looks to be in horrible shape and the guy still wants $350. I thinks thats ridiculous for one thats not running and the paint is fading and it looks like it has been left out in the weather.

The first in thread was $375 and that's a real deal- the 196cc is generaly $499 low ball price. You need to get super lucky or if you see $450 or less jump! The little bikes with a 96-97 cc motor can be had for $279 plus S&H but need jackshafted or a different motor for adults to keep their interest up. Now the 196cc bike -yep they are a blast!

FreeLanceEMT,

Are you by chance searching further out than your immediate location vicinity? If not make sure you do to increase your chances of finding a mini.A site like SearchTempest - The EASY way to search Craigslist is very helpful with searching other locations. There is a couple of other sites too.Good Luck!

PS-Be sure to check daily.
