So you are saying you have experienced a fast EV and still find it lacking by comparison? Or are you saying you have never even been in one, have no experience with them, yet still dismiss them and act like I am missing a chromosome for preferring them over ICE on a mini bike? lol.

I have built drag motors my whole life BBC, SBC, twin turbo, blown, nitrous you name it. Tons of performance gas minis too. I appreciate a good engine and the feel and sound it makes. But it is a bit hypocritical to act like I do not understand the appeal or “soul” of an ICE motor and label me an EV fanboy. When you obviously haven't experianced a quick EV. I simply give credit where it is due.

Go drive one. It is an eye opening experience and then some. Nont some crappy surron, but a real bike psuhing 30-50,000 watts at least.

I was not even trying here. This is a $100 kids bike built as a toy/joke to run against gas pit bikes at my local strip between rounds and after hours. It massively exceeded expectations. Full on alcohol drag bikes at the track barely run 7.5x in the eighth. And this is on neighborhood streets with a 3 inch bike tire and 220lb rider.

Yet I can still cruise it around like a kitten at a car show or crank out 60+ hp on a 123 lb bike. You won't ever get that kind of performance and rideability with an ICE minibike.

What you continue to not get is that this thread is about power adders for ICEs. You interjected the topic of electric minibikes into it for some reason and keep pushing like it's an ideology or your ego depends on others finding it acceptable. That's weird.

You clearly lack imagination. Can’t teach an old dog new tricks and all that. Because you dont’ see it as a power adder it must not be? Give me a break! EV is used as a power adder on ICE engines all the time these days. If I were to put a hub motor on the front of my ICE mini bike. What kind of performance do you think it would be capable of? Even a simple gear driven mid drive motor tied to the jack shaft could give massive instant power on demand. Could cruise around on gas while charging battery with regen. Then kick in the EV power on demand.

Point being EV can easily be a power adder. The question then becomes if the power adder is more capable than the ICE motor... what’s the point of the ICE motor? Glorified battery charger maybe... ;)

I believe people here were using the term "power adder" that has been historically in common, traditional use- i.e. forced induction or special fuels.

You claiming people here "lack imagination"? That is absurd.
Go look at all the killer bikes that members here have built or are currently building, and then tell me how they "lack imagination"!
That is a bad take and 100% wrong.

@forcefed86 You're being insulting here. If you do some digging, you'll find that 65ShelbyClone has done a bunch of innovative testing and experimenting with engines. If anyone lacks imagination, it is NOT him.

I am glad you found your hobby. I built an electric bike years ago. It was just after they invented electricity. I'd build more of them, but there just isn't a challenge to it. The Diesel Electric Locomotive which is essentially your glorified battery charger- has been in common use since the 1920's.

It is always a good indication of someone's maturity and experience when their first consideration is, "how fast does it go?"

Your bikes are yours. You will eventually get to the point where you don't need to argue your points to gain the approval of others. Build what you want. No one really gives a darn. And if you can't be nice, the 10 people on here who actually build stuff will just ignore you.

Is it really a power adder when it's the only source of power ?

I don't agree. I didn't insult anyone. I simply stated a fact. An EV motor can absolutely be used as a power adder for an ICE setup. Arguing otherwise is just incorrect. Whether people like the idea or not doesn't change the fact that it's highly effective. The automotive hybrid market proves that.

What I do find insulting is being told I don't understand the thread when I clearly do. The discussion is about power adders for ICE engines, and an electric motor is one. Personal opinions about EVs don't change that. Dollar for dollar, an EV motor is an extremely effective power adder, and in many cases more effective than many of the options mentioned.

As for my example not having an ICE installed, that's beside the point. I chose not to use one because it is less efficient for my application. I could just as easily run an ICE on the rear wheel and an EV hub motor on the front. I simply don't because, for my needs, the EV motor is cheaper, performs better, and I don't need the extra range an ICE provides.

Facts are facts. You not wanting to hear them doesn’t’ change that. Only shows how close minded you are. Give credit where its due and stop being such an close minded old fart... step into the 21st century maybe? ;)
