carb jet

Question for you clone pro's.

For a 6.5 clone, would like to improve air in and exhaust out. Using a foam aftermarket air cleaner with one of the exhaust pipe/headers out there, I have to imagine a larger jet would be required. What size larger jet would be a good starting point?

Thanks for any feedback.

I bought the 90 jet and it is too lean with just an air cleaner and header. I am also using a 0.01 longer rod. I think its the cold weather out. I plan on drilling the jet larger tomarrow.

Thanks guys,
Your input is very helpful, with the cold weather and the need to ride I will try both the jet and the e-tube.

These clone and other OHV engines are some what different from the good old days of the B&S and Clinton. 40 years or so ago.

I brought a #61-80 drill set today and ended up at 0.037" I think a#64 drill. Nice difference in performance. I plan on running this for a bit and then checking the plug to see if I should go bigger. I drilled my original jet so I can go back to the 90 in summer if I have to.
