there's only one gas station around here that i've noticed doing that. that extra $2 isn't going to put me on the streets so i really don't care.

They are not allowed to do that in Jersey. Same price cash or credit. I have noticed that some stations charge a set amount, say $75 and then credit you the unused amount. Not too big of a problem unless you have less then 75 in your account.

Years back in Oregon where your gas is pumped by an attendant. They had mini service lines, and for the prestigious yuppies a FULL SERVICE line for about $0.17 per gallon increase. That didn't last long.

Does this piss anyone else off, when the gas station charges more if you use your debit or credit card for gas or diesal?? It does me:thumbsup:
That's a violation of the credit card companies rules. It's also illegal in some states. Report it to their credit card companies, and they'll handle it.. Or, call the Michigan attorney generals office. I did that some years ago, and they nailed the gas station with like a $10,000 fine! In fact, that guy then sold the station because he was so pissed.

What they CAN do legally though, is give a discount for using CASH. So, the secret would be for them to raise their regular prices on everything, but give say .06 cents off per dollar for using cash to pay.

yep seen a few stations try to do this idea of charging more for using a card. Its defiantly illegal here but a few have tried. I'm guessing they got there hands slapped which is why they stopped. one has a sign requesting you pay cash so they can stay competitive in prices

they use to do that in indiana but stopped years ago. the speedways and i think handy dandys let you acquire points toward cas off gas tho, and some charge a fee refundable fee when you use a card. when the charge clears, u get the fee back.

Way back in time when my store was open we would put a sign up on go karts and mini bikes that there was a higher price to use a credit card and It was just to cover the 3.5 percent charge we had to pay. But that was 1973 & 74
