GO to a Kart track or ATV shop and get one of those collars too.

Adds a little protection for your neck.

AS for wanting to do other modifications.
Its a package deal kid:
You need to add a front brake so it will stop.
Idealy get a little longer chain and slid that rear wheel back the extra inch. Doesn't sound like much but it will help shift your weight forward a little and improve stability.

This is the same bike I'm installing mine on, quick question since You've done it successfully, the rear sprocket and the torque converter sprocket don't line up..does that matter? Back plate seems to be the issue..not sure though.

Which backplate do you have? Steel or aluminum?

Did you trim off one "fin" so it fit correctly?

Honestly this would be world's easier if you just posted a pic of your setup

Will do, it runs fine, I think the chain orignally cut into the plate a little bit (on my prior setup) and cleared it away..lol, ran it just now and runs perfectly, plenty of low-end and WAY faster on the high-end, all seems good, I do need a newer belt though and I just can't understand how to get the new belts on...so tough to fit on lol

Nice wheelie vid. That's my one fear with putting the new motor and TAV onto my warrior, I hope the power won't prove to be too much for trail riding.

After all, you can't steer if the front tire isn't touching the ground.
You can easily control the torque...as you saw he had to lean back, if you aren't leaning back you won't do a wheelie, just lean forward to distribute your weight and it'd be fine for trails, just mind that extra 15mph you are going, it's quite cool to hear the belts position change, the rpms change a lot more than on the old centri-fugal clutch, sounds way cooler, and runs way smoother, and I'm even running on a worn out belt :p, I also moved my wheel back a little bit which helps, but I had to due to a longer chain, had I of known the benefits I would have gotten an even longer one and moved it ALL the way back.

On my last baja I shortened the rear and front fenders, in the process of doing the same on this warrior. I was planning to run without a front fender until the last ride on mostly mud trails.

I think the shortened fenders improves the look of the bike substantially

i would get a cover but theres no way to mount it. i have a very weird engine plate for the jackshaft and nothing will fit.

i dont know if it looks better or not now. maybe i cut a little too short. hmm. too late so whatever. just looks stubby in the back :laugh:

I run 9/72 on my Puma 200 and like that. Stock the primary was 10/20 and final 10/50 which was 10:1 overall. Now it's 8:1 on the final. When I first installed the TAV2 the stock 50T rear sprocket was on it and a 10T on the TAV2 which made it 5:1 on the final. The stock clone wouldn't pull high gear so I put a 72T on the rear. Still a little high for my liking - so, I put the 9T on the TAV2 and it's just about perfect. With the stock gearing on the Puma and just the TAV2 installed with 10T on it, the engine wouldn't come close to pulling the high ratio - would only turn about 3000 RPM when the TAV2 transitioned to overdrive.

I milled the head down 0.077", pulled stock muffler and changed the final drive ratio from 10/50 to 9/72 and the motor picked up to 5000+ on the top end and acceleration is much improved.

Gearing is preference really. Whatever you like is right. It boils down to acceleration -vs- top speed. The TAV2 gives maximum acceleration and good top end - especially when the overall gearing is optimized to match up with the engine torque curve.

thanks!

i guess my gearing is good... maybe gonna put some into the engine though. muniki carb, no governor, billet rod, 18lb springs, bigger cam, porting, flat top piston. (already have exhaust)
