High Speeds tire question

#1
Hey I notice when i start maxing out on my kart it will bounce like. And make the ride not smooth. It will kind of start to feel like I am on a tractor. I am wondering why is it doing this? Could i have a bad bearing or what could be making it ride rough when i start to max out?

lots of things.. The tread pattern hitting the ground will cause what is called a high speed wobble.. Thats more of a side to side action though, The wheels being towed in or towed out too much can get them going crazy, bent wheels, wheel out of balance, not bolted on true.. Try rolling all the wheels by hand and watch them and see if you can physically SEE them doing anything goofy..

Ohh. Well when i roll the wheels they do look like they are warped. Like it wont roll in a complete circle. It looks like the are rolling in a warped circle.
Kind of hard to explain.

Yeah.. stuff will do that.. Uhhhh see if your tire is not on the wheel right...

OFTEN the tire is not true to the wheel when it's inflated, so even though the WHEEL itself is rolling true, the TIRE will be out of round because it's 3 inches tall on one side, but 2 3/4 inches tall on the other side.. :doah: If it's out of whack you can deflate the the tire to about flat, then fight and pull and wiggle it until it's rolling smooth, then re-inflate..

If the wheel bolts to a center hub, make sure the wheel is bolted on perfectly centered..

Could bad bearings cause this? Because i did get this kart used and it was in bad shape so i am thinking the bearings might be blown. But the bearings still move but not sure if that could be the problem.

if the bearings are BAD bad and have a lot of slop it could cause slight handling problems.. but most likely wouldn't cause the whole wheel to ride out of round enough to notice by bare eyeball.. it would still roll round.. just crunchy with a little extra play that ya don't want..

Yeah if it's old and beat on Kart, wheel bearings are probably not awesome.. :hammer: It sounds like ya have a bent wheel or tire not on the bead dead nuts strait or something though..

Alright I am going to check out everything tomorrow. I did not wont to air the tire too much. Like I can still push in on the tire alittle. Because i did not wont to make it solid hard.

My font tire on my DB looks like rools offsided, could this be becuz its not sat right on the rim, like the bead or whatnot? I dont really notice while riding but when I spin it free you can plainly see it!

if the rim does not wobble or wiggle, but the TIRE does, yes that very well could be the tire not on the bead evenly.. Could also just be the cheap chinese tires starting to wear and stretch and bulge out.. If it doesn't bother you driving it or in the turns.. It probably isn't a real huge issue.. Although if you ever get more speed rolling along it might cause problems at higher speeds or cause un-even tire wear..

I changed my bearings and it still wobbles. My rim is bent alittle, I think that is what is causing the problem.

I also need new tires badly too because the tires i got on there are cracking/rotting sense i got this kart in bad shape.

Run the straightest wheels you have on the front if they are all the same, you can TRY to straiten them out some but can also make stuff a lot worse pretty easily beating on stuff..
