anyone been successful pressing a new square end on a speedometer/ flexcable?
I have a cable on my rupp which is too long. I took the flanged end off and cut the cable and housing. it seems that if a lot of pressure isn't used to form it the will fray apart.....

nice i could use that. Iv done some crazy spedo cable repairs. On my porsche 914 the speedo cable is like a mile long and pretty expensive. mine had a couple sections that were rusted and broke. I had a cable from something else so I cut the bad sections out and welded in a new section. grind it down so it fits in the tube just got to make sure youre weld gets all the cables so it doesnt fray apart. It worked pretty well lol

I used to get speedometer cable from a parts store years back. They had it on a wooden roll that had hundreds of feet on it. They had a heavy steel press looking thing mounted on a bench that the end of the cable went into and then was smacked with a BIG hammer and instant square end.
