How to straighten forks?

As the forks don't have suspension and are just straight tubes it makes straightening much easier. On a steel table make a lay-out of the centerline and where the fork tubes are suppose to be. Use steel spacers as needed to position the upper [unbent portion] of the forks over the top of the lay-out. Tack weld everything to the table. Now it is only necessary to bend the fork legs straight [parallel with the table and directly over the lay-out. Sure, you can stick one leg at a time in a vice and beat the hell out of it and you might get it close. If you stick an acet. torch to it, so little force is necessary to bend them back, you will end up with streached metal or raise bumps or both. I have the best luck with the 'tack it to the table method' outlinded above.
