Hydraulic Sebac's?

#1
What is this little valve on this Sebac shock? Is it a bleed for air? Or are some of these shocks hydraulic? Why would only one be? The other one didnt have the valve. I took these off an MTD Trail Flite when i found some NOS ones last year. Now im going through my junk pile looking for shocks to go on my El Tigre, which came without them. They work so I'll use them. Just curious for the most part.

I am sure if you greased it tight enough it may have a hydraulic effect... for at least one or two bumps...or until the grease squeezed out!

Hydraulic shocks don't have zerks

There IS a Sebac that was coil spring over hydraulic, but these aren't them. I've got a pair and there's a set on eBay right now. They are heavier duty than standard Sebacs. The ends are U-shaped and heavier than the traditional round cast eye body. The bottom eyes have a recessed nut.

What you have here is just an ordinary Sebac that someone put a zerk in. There's nothing but empty space there. All the lubrication is required up in the neck under the plastic dust sleeves. Only way to lube them is through disassembly.
