is this worth getting for $200? (i want to make some money!)

i actually don't want to make any money on this. i figured it might get some of you in here.:thefinger:

i'm looking for an engine for my Cat and a 6hp Tec Power Sport with a TAV would be nice. the guy won't sell the engine separately and the bike needs a bit of work (at minimum a throttle). the problem is that it's an hour and a half away from me.

i'm wondering if it's worth it for just the engine and TAV. i'm not really into the chopper style bikes but it could be fun to mess around with. i'm moving soon and will have garage space so dealing with having it in my place wouldn't be too bad.

should i spend a total of 3 hours driving plus the amount he'd sell it for? i'm really on the fence because it's going to cost me $30+ in gas to get it. i'd have to at least pull the front wheel to fit it in my Durango.

is it worth getting or not? i don't even know what kind of frame it is.

Bird Duck or Falcon that appears to have had the fork legs added on to.

A TAV alone is close to $200. The new price on the Tec is very high, and even used should be worth about $80

Everyone needs a TAV whether they know it or not.

Buy a $20 edger for a small motor for the Bird.

i've emailed him. i'm just waiting to see if we can meet up tomorrow.

the more i think about the chopper frame the cooler it gets.

my last two unused tavs where $75. :thefinger:

Why a power sport for the Cat? If not going flathead, go with a clone since you already have another for parts.

I never find any $75 TAV units, although I did get one for about $100. Also paid for one for about $100 but never got it.

Also still have to pay shipping because I've never found used TAV units around here.

Why not? It's a nice engine package for a rider, and a whole new bike to boot. Not too bad.

i just called him but there was a bunch of can't understand each other because of shitty reception shit happening.

this way i can stick that motor in my Cat and have it running again and then have a chopper frame to do something with. my buddy at work has a 3hp Tec flathead that i can put in the Cat too. the 4hp that was in it when i bought it is in one of his minis.

he said he'll take $180 for it which is a really good deal for that around here.

A 3hp Tec is what you'll need on the bird since the frame is slanted like it is. That's why so many Bonanza choppers got chopped.

Strigoi, Last month I drove from Central Pennsylvania to Davenport Iowa to pick up a Fox Campus Bike that I won on ebay. Four days, 1600 miles round trip, food, lodging, and gas. And you're whining about a couple of hours. Come on man. A "REAL" minibiker wouldn't even have to ask. Just busting your chops and LOL Strig.....Ogy

Strigoi : It is too bad that you have to think of driving as such a bad thing where you live. Here in Portland in any direction a 1 1/2 hour drive is through the beautiful Northwest and the view never gets old.
I lived 36 years in Southern California and it was OK but no way would I go back. I guess you just have to look a little harder and take a few more back roads to see the real California , It's not on the freeway for sure. that mini bike is a good buy go get it.
