Is JB Weld strong enough to hold a tank mount to the frame?

I removed the mount and now need it. No welder.
Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

I doubt it will hold for too long, How about riveting it on? Still not the best because given the fuel slosh, vibration movement etc... Or making some plates to sandwich the mount between the frame rail.

Gotta tell ya this story, When I got into VW's the car I started with was a Baja Bug, I really needed a welder to do the things I wanted to do. But I refused to buy one, and improvised or simply did not do the things I really wanted to do to it. I had to beg borrow and steal to get just a few little things sone that absalutly had to be welded on to complete it. Long story short I was never happy with the car, It came out good, was winning at shows, and was great for the muddy but slow offroading found around here. but it was not serious offroader like you would find out in cali.

After spending excessive funds on the car, and skipping on the cool things that make a killer offroad car I finally bought a welder, It was only a couple of hundred bucks, and I was kicking myself for not just gong out and buying one of these dam things when I started on the car. So then I proceeded to make a bunch of changes to the car, spent a WHOLE lot more money on it....

the day I put on my sunday best and headed up to Sears and bought my welder (strapped to the roof rack-that I had to beg my buddy to use his welder to build:doah:):

The cool double rear rack I built with my new welder out of parts and pieces:

Go get a mig welder, get one that has the regulator for gas (you don't have to use it that way to start) get an auto darkening helmet and melt some steel together!

what do you call that color on the bug besides green ? I may paint my cherokee that color
It was PPG deltron base/ and concept clear "willow green" It was a pretty forgiving product, painted it right were its parked in that first pic on that dirt driveway under the pine tree, never had to be wetsanded or buffed, it layed down nice:thumbsup:

have you had any luck locating a metal melter. it's a bummer sometimes waiting on others to finish a project. before i retired, we had a good fab guy where i worked that helped me out alot over the years. wish i had learned from him:censure:
