I was there for the weekend with my mini scoot. A ton of great bikes and amazing creativity.
Next time we should try to coordinate a day/time to meet up.

So far, yes. If you look at their website you can look at photos from previous shows. It woiuld be nice to meet up with you and other Wisconsin members.

Hey that Simplex looks familiar:detective:
Was that yours Mark? Were you there?

Well, according to their website there was supposed to be a special area for minibikes to be displayed or you could display them by your car. When I got there I asked where the area was and the guys at the entrance didn't know. They told me to park them by the grand stand. I was a little pissed off and wasn't sure I even wanted to leave them there while I walked around. It wasn't roped off and nobody there to watch them in case somebody decided they liked my bikes anough to just walk off with them. But I think if we could coordinate with a few memebers we could create our own special area with enough bikes. I brought three of them. Didn't race because they weren't built for racing and there were a couple built bikes that a stock bike with my 6 foot 235 pound body on it wouldn't be able to compete. :scooter:

SimpleTom, i was kind of thinking it was like that......:doah: i am glad i didn't waste my time driving 2 1/2 hrs and finding out it was like that. it sounds like they need to get little more organize and make something good out of it. for example have a minibike show area and also maybe judge show too(that might be to hard for them to figure that out?)) and then try having a minibike cruise like windber has. that would really pull in the people, but i guess it's more about the car show then minibikes.
well if i go next year i will personally bring something and have yours and my and anybody else that wants there bikes rope off.

Yes Tom, that's my bike:thumbsup:and I camped there all weekend.

I didn't race this year but my friend did with his custom Lil Gen, took first in his class too:thumbsup:. the trophy was a four pack of PBR tall boys:laugh:

What bikes were yours tom? I tried to take pics of all of the minibikes there but the turnout was a lot bigger than last year. I like the idea of coordinating with other members and getting together in one area, the bikes I brought this year were all riders and not really picture quality. As far as someone walking off with the bikes, it hasn't happened yet. (not saying it isn't possible, there's an A-hole in every crowd:shrug:) My buddy left this Fox between a couple of cars and finally dragged it back to his campsite after the saloon closed, it was there all day until well past midnight.

Brian it was definitely not a waste of time, just depends on what you are into:shrug:. It was more of a traditional Hot rod show with some strict criteria- nothing newer than '62 ish. They wanted it to feel like you were walking down Main St. in the 60s:thumbsup:

As far as organized, it was but it was loose at best. This was the fourth year of the show and it had gotten larger every year. the place where they hold it is basically a small town full of old buildings (general store, Post office etc.) and they just put the cars everywhere, minibikes included. no ropes, turntables or elaborate displays anywhere, just park your rod and enjoy. Also there was judging but it was pretty informal, and only a couple of categories. All of the trophy's were handmade by the car clubs involved. I think SimpleTom is on to something, if a handful of us got together and brought a few nice bikes we could probably put them all in one area, maybe right on the main drag out in front ore something. Plus it would be nice to meet a few more members:thumbsup:
They do have a cruise through town at 6pm on Friday, was a lot of fun even if it was a small venue.

probable right mark i would of still enjoy going. but kind of like simpletom. drive alway up there and find out there is no real safe place to park your minibike and that anybody could walk up and do what every. maybe next year we will try to get a group of us and rope are bikes off and with couple signs,do not touch. with the show getting bigger ever year. there could be some problems. at windber everybody is there for the minibikes and alot of people are OldMiniBikes members. so you don't really see any problems. everybody looks out for each other.
also are you telling me my 68 buick is to new to bring..........

Symco

I was there and did see a couple guys wearing OldMiniBikes shirts. I thought the same thing about a minibike area. The stands were full for the races but they were very slow with the brackets which had me losing interest.

Some guy on a pretty fast motorized 4 wheel radio flyer wagon thing almost hit some folks at the end of the drag strip which didn't go over well with the promoter who was on his golf cart watching. He spun it out inches from a guy on a pedal bike.

Yes, 1968 is too new...64 or older with period correct items.

Must have been your wife at the camper. We were walking around everywhere and I took pictures of bikes that caught my eye. Your Simplex definately caught my eye. I never knew they were as big as they are.

These are the bikes I brought. That is not me but one of my buddies in the picture.

I've had the Simplex for a few years now...it looks pretty much the same since I picked it up, I just put different fenders on it. Awesome rider too:thumbsup:. Mine is the Compact model, the Senior is even bigger:eek:hmy:

I remember seeing your Bonanza, (Nice BTW:thumbsup:) that was one of the times I didn't have my camera:doah:
