Modding a 48cc trail bike?? Ideas?

I have a 48cc gps made trail bike. regular clone engine. runs great, completly stock apart from a uni filter air cleaner. Im looking to make it A LOT faster. It currently will do 35-40mph. Also, any ideas on where to find a new speedometer cable? Lastly, how would I go about hooking up a tach? Thanks
