I have several S/A carbs with a angle cut on the etube end (they all have a hole drilled in the end as well), but I have never seen any turned towards the incoming air. Seems to me it would want to push against the fuel flow??? I may turn one around and try it..

On a bored out carb, there is less vacuum at the venturi to siphon the fuel . Cutting the angle helps the fuel get into the airstream.

As far as facing forward... Dunno. Never tried it.

Knew I saw that style of illustration before. Now I know where it came from. I bought a clutch kit for my old IH Cub Cadet from that guy a long time ago.

I don't understand the logic behind the forward facing for bigger valves though...

I incorporated the the angle into my current build
maybe the vacuum at the tip is greater when the slant is turned towards valves therefore increasing vacuum and fuel pull, as in mo' fuel for the more air situation of larger valves.
