I picked this pile of gems up yesterday. From what I gather the bike is a Fox Doodlebug. Frame is really straight and solid. I also got two 5hp flatheads, one complete and runs good, the other is for parts and a couple of extra shrouds.
Questions:
1. Anyone know of a way to tell what year this bike is from or what years they were built?
2. What type of brake setup did these use? It looks like the rear sprocket may be set up for a drum, but it looks like a tab has been broken off right behind the jackshaft mount that could have mounted a caliper on the sprocket?... Really like to see some pictures of how it was set up and I'd love to know what you have used for replacement parts if someone out there was missing these at one time.
Probably going to start collecting a few parts for this one over the summer and do it next winter for my wife to putt around on. I've got a really nice old low hour 3hp flathead briggs lined up for it...
