I had one just like this that my father won in a crap game when I was 12 years old from a Rupp dealer in Ohio, I'm 64 now. I rode that
bike everywhere in the neighborhood. Looking back I must have driven the neighbors crazy coming and going at all hours.
I built this
bike from parts that I have sourced over the last five years.
Some of the mods are obvious:
The engine is a brand new 5 H.P. snow blower engine, the original had a 3.5 H.P. with the alternator and aluminum flywheel. It's dressed with proper shroud and tank.
The original never had the Rupp sticker on it.
Some of the changes were because of dislikes I had as a kid.
I never liked the gray cable housings, I have them, but put on the black color.
I never liked the clamp on tail light bracket either, I modified a big washer and tigged it to the frame.
I guess the exhaust pipe is obvious (always wanted one instead of the short muffler.)
The brake grip never had the ball on the end (always wanted that too.)
I have both air breathers horizontal and vertical, when I was a kid I did swap the horizontal to a vertical. (I was customizing back then.)
The color is Nassau blue with a little bit more chrome than original.
I have LED lights installed in the housings, maybe this weekend I'll find time to wire up the rectifier and finish that part and then
on to my next project, a Rupp A-Bone Dart Kart.
