My son negotiated for this in July for $75. It's a 1970 Cat 400TS. This is how we found it (missing a lot of parts).

Installed seat rails, shocks, red glitter peg covers, new wheel bearings, air cleaner, exhaust, painted engine shroud and removed paint overspray from tires. Pumped tires up and they both cracked (severely dry rotted).

Painted wheels, painted frame, removed paint/saved fork chrome, new tires (swiped from my Ruttman Wild Goose), removed red glitter peg covers and installed blue ones.

Have a Manchester engineered 400TS seat on order, and a kick stand on the way. Need to find a 400x size handlebar setup to replace the bmx one.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm really hoping that this is a great learning opportunity for my son. I want him to gain confidence working with tools and developing the "know how to" in the garage. I see a lot of kids these days (especially in our neighborhood) that have the expectation that things will be done for them. I want my kids to be able to do things for themselves. Hopefully this is the start down that path.

Bike looks great and glad to see you son doesn't mind getting his hands dirty:thumbsup: I looked at 2 tanks for your bike and they were both crappy... I'll keep looking!

Thanks for looking for a tank. I know there's one out there somewhere. :detective:

Making some progress. HS50 installed and a set of handlebars. I'm hoping the chrome on the bars is good under the paint. Going to clean and polish and see what they look like. Still need chain, throttle assembly, clutch band brake assembly and going to install a chain tensioner........getting there slowly
