I have a circa 1979 Briggs 8hp that is in almost pristeen condition. It is an I/C engine and seems a little larger than later engines I have seen. It also has this huge cast iron flywheel and a down draft float bowl carb. I have split the case to look around inside and the crank is supported by 2 pretty hefty ball bearings. I would truly like to hang this motor on my Boonie Bike frame, but the business end of the crank has a Morris taper. Is there the remotest possibility that one of might have a crank for this engine standard size shaft and keyway? I am looking to hook it all up with a torque converter. I tried to use a crank from a later model vertical shaft engine I have. The flywheel end was a perfect match, but there was a difference on the other side.
