Motor was painted black, I can't see any ID numbers or markings. I think it is mid 80's (86?) 5HP, because I saw one similar on this site for sale but that one you could see ID numbers. Not sure how often they changed styles. Looking for info because if I want to change out parts or modify. It still has governor hooked up with throttle on lower part of engine under fuel tank. Should I keep it there or hook throttle to direct to carb? It has a kill switch on top next to spark plug,do people still use this kill switch or is it common to just put one on handlebars? I see kill switches for sale with only one wire, will the one wire switches work with this motor or do I need to ground it also (2 wires)? The clutch has a zip tie on inner shaft, a guy says its there because there was too much play from side to side on clutch, is this common or should I cut zip tie? sorry for long post, trying to get bike sorted and learning on the way. This place has so much info.
