New Clinton Panther

#5

I bought it it will never see any use from me. display only and should stay pure. I am in the process of trying to aquire as many NOS or high quality restorations of any engine that was used on american minibikes. i now own 7. I am also hoping to have enough high quality original and restored minibikes to start a museum. I have about 37 now. Lofty goal for my retirement but thought i would share with the group. Starting next year i will be posting specific bikes i am looking for. As for the panther i have never owned or worked on one but i know that they were used on the early 60s little indians.

Is that a grounding thingamabob fixed in the rubber plug boot? Spiffy. What’s the displacement of this motor?

You ought to (gently) remove the blower cover to see if there’s unpainted areas under it. Other engines are completely assembled then painted. Just wondering if the Panther was the same.

I believe they are all 95cc. I do also believe they were painted after assembly.

We go to a track on Route 61 in Delmar, Iowa. Just north of Delmar is the town of Maquoketa, home of the Clinton Engine. Great museum and you certainly can learn a lot from the tour. Worlds BIGGEST ENGINE builder was their claim back in the 50's, bigger than Briggs. They use to send their engine out on shrink wrap for a father /son assembly project. Lot to see and read on the tour which was in the old office building of the company and it is well stocked with just about everything they made. Never realized they were so diversified

Jim66 Bought the NOS Clinton Panther for his upcoming Mini Bike Museum.I just happened to go on Ebay yesterday and saw the NOS
panther for Sale and called Jim to give him a heads up and within a few seconds he bought the panther A-500. A few days before he also
purchased my NOS Tec AH -817 MB, So he is off to a good start to ad some quality Nos motors for his Museum.

I saw that the other day, haven't been on eBay in a while but it was a rain day. Looked back a few hours later and it was gone, good to see a member here got it. I thought about it but it would just sit on the shelf next to my other one;)
I spent the first half of this year working in Iowa, drove right past the Clinton Museum in Maquoketa pretty regularly but was busy working so didn't have a chance to stop in. Gonna have to make a trip out there to just check it out, only about two hours from here. I did stop at the Pickers store in LeClaire, they have some neat stuff but it's mostly merch for tourists.
