Rebirth of a 1970 fox Street Scamp

Hi Matt,
Yes, I am keeping up on your build. Thanks for taking the time to document it.
I want to get my Fox together and running, before tackling the restoration.

Hi everyone
I was on ebay looking for some rubbers for my foot pegs. I have part of the originals so I know what they look like. Nothings on ebay was the same. I ordered some NOS Rupp rubbers instead. Anyway I think they will look good.

The new tires showed up yesterday. I ordered them from a scooter site, they are dot approved. Now if I want to try and get a title for it the tires will pass inspection. The rims look good from ten feet or so, if you have bad eye sight.

Today Rick also sent a picture of my decals. He also had word on the crank. Rick took the crank to his tool guy and the threads are no good. Rick and his guys are miracle workers. They are going to cut the threads off the crank, drill and tap the end. Then they are taking a Hard grade bolt cutting down one end to 3/8 fine thread to thread into the crank. I just want to say thanks to Rick I appreciate all his efforts and his tool guy too. Rick did say that he would send me picture of the crank work. When I get them I will post them.

Hey Loren how much of your original wiring is still there? Can you put up pictures of your wiring? Anything will help. I'm still looking for a wiring diagram of the Street Scamp, help!!

Thanks buckeye it's not the same but it will be helpful if I have to wire it my self. On mine I think the taillight is always on and there is a hi low and off for the headlight. I would just run the taillight in front of switch. The brake light is a separate switch just like your picture. Looking a yours I think I can do all that pretty easy. Thanks buckeye.

Matt,
All the wiring is on mine, I can take it off the frame and get a picture of it for you.
I probably could figure out the schematic of it if you can give me a few days.

I would sure like to help if I can. So many of the folks here have been a terrific help to me already, it would be great to return a favor.

Matt,

I have down loaded 14 pictures of the wiring. They are in my photos.
Hope this is helpful to you.

I will be rebuilding my harness completely. Need to find the plastic that was used to cover the wiring first though.

Loren how did the brake light switch work. From what I remember when you pull the brake it would squish the wires together. I do remember the wires on the adjuster bolt on the brake caliper. I don't remember is how did the wires not touch before you pulled the brake leaver? When you took apart the caliper was there a insulator on it between the wires?

Matt,
Don't have a good switch yet. Have one coming this week hopefully. Mine, the isolators were destroyed by a previous owner cranking down the castle nut.
So far, all I've found for a covering is shrink tubing.

Hi everyone Rick just sent a couple of pictures. He has some of the parts ready or close to ready for paint. Rick is going way past what I thought he would be doing. You can see from the pictures he is doing body work on my tins this is going to be too nice. I may have to put the engine on a shelf in the front room for awhile. I could not find the original air filter so I sent what I thought was the right style. I was wrong Rick has the right one he is going to put his on my engine, thanks Rick.
