Rupp number plate alternative

#1
I had been looking for a number plate to go on my 1970 Rupp Scrambler. I saw a few on eBay for big money, but I'm sure worth it for the right restoration. I found something that I think will work. It's 7 inches like the original. It does not have a rolled edge but this is much heavier than stamped sheet metal. It was a bacon press that sold for $9.99 on Amazon. What are your thoughts? The link to the press is below.

The Bird is a bit odd ball. I grew up riding Rupps, so it didn't have the same feel of quality (plastic gas tank, scrub brake). I actually stole the HS50 off of it for the Scrambler. I'm going to try to fit a HF 212 with a 30 series torque converter and a 48t sprocket. The Roadster is pretty complete. I have new tires, seat, the correct intake and some spare torque converter parts for it. It needs brake cables, a chain, headlight but it definitely has good bones. My dad actually has the 70 Rupp Sprint I grew up with, along with a Black Widow that would be prime for a restoration. Maybe I'll build some shelving to display them, but I do like riding anything with two wheels.
