The Great Race 2015

#3
Here's a slide show of the Lake Havasu stop of the race. Some very neat and historically important cars. As a MOPAR guy, one in particular stood out- an original 66 Coronet base model equipped with the optional 426 Hemi. The owner was a computer salesman, (pre IBM punch card stuff) who raced on the weekends by sliding it a 4.11 set of gears, then swapping back for his sales route. One of five ever built. A cherry one sold for over $880K. This one still had the hoof marks from a deer the owner shot in 67. Google "66 Coronet hemi great race" for some photos and info.

Hey Dave there is a fellow that lives a couple of miles from me named Norm Hamstrom that still has his 66' Coronet Hemi original 1 owner with less than 14000 miles on the clock. I believe the car was in October 1987 Hot Rod magazine. I talked with him just a few days ago and asked if he would stop by next time he has it out-if he does I will get some pictures. Maybe get him to take it for a ride.

It is indeed in that magazine. Very cool. My 67 RT was the last photo in the slide show.
