#1
Hello
Does anyone know the best trearment to use on old vintage tires to protect then from cracking or any other bad things that could happen To old tires that are on a survivor. The tires that are on this bike are like new and they are the hard to get 10,5/3,5/4 Lil Jndian tires and I would like to use the best treatment to keep them like new.
Thank You

Best... who can say? My suggestions would be:

Do not use any petroleum based products on tires.

Wash with soap (I like Dawn dish soap), water and a relatively soft scrub brush.

Treat with 303 Protectant.

My cousin (delray)and i were at a swap meet a few years back and a oldtimer had this very nice vintage snowbird snowblower. Looked like new. The tires were a tractor type lug and looked like new but had weat on them. We asked the guy about it and he said it was all original from early 60s. Then we asked how he kept the tires so new and crack free. His answer was. Mink oil. It does work. I have a old goodyear i plan on using on a VT 1 restoration. I have been putting the mink oil on it and it is keeping the tire nice and plyable and black too
