Tote Gote 670 Nova

#1
does anyone know how the transmission works on the nova model? There is a lever on right side of engine that goes up an down. Down it goes slow and up nothing. Lever won't stay up.......should it? Is this the high speed range? This model is supposed to be the fastest Gote made with a top speed of 36 MPH. But I cant get it going faster then about 15 MPH...Help Any pictures of what it should look like engaged in high/low?

The lever was to open the driven clutch so it would free-wheel when not running. This would make it easier to push around. If your only getting 15 mph your belt is wrong or worn out. They made the gearbox in 2 ratios, 10/1 and 7.5/1. If the 7.5/1 gearbox was set up right it would go 36mph. The 10/1 was slower but better in the hills. The belt should be 27" length, 15/16" width and 22 degree side angle. The only place to get this belt is from Jake at totegotes.com. The belt # is 1522V270. You can get a goodyear 1422V270 which is only 7/8" wide. This will work but you won't get the performance you want.

I think the Penn. Riding Club Pic was sent to the Tote Gote factory. We got it from the guy that managed the company after the Bonhams sold it. Your nova should go faster than 15mph.
