Wanting to start 212 Hemi harbor freight build Need some guidance

#1
Hello! First post to this forum, Im a kid who knows his way around an old car (for the most part :) ), engines as well, so Im not really asking how to build one (although pointers for building a small engine would be helpful, as Ive only built V8s). Anyway I would get a Hemi as they usually flow better (same applies to small engines right?) and its been recomended.

Could one of you share a build sheet or a parts list?
I want decent power (torque, really), enough to throw my 210 pound dad down my street at some velocity, good acceleration would be nice. Im a teenager and money is not something I have all that much of... Im sure my expectations are too high. Please be real with me and tell me if me and my expectations are crazy.

Anyway like I said, Im new to building small engines and any and all tips/advice/ recommendations is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and have a great day,
G
PS Sorry is there are some unclear questions/statements. Im writing this with post with really bad jet lag. Please ask for clarification if there is something you need some specifics on.

Do a Google Custom Search at the top of this page. There are LOTS of previous discussion threads on this which you can learn from.

Whats this motor going in? I would start with a stock predator and add a torque converter. This seams to be the best bang for buck and is suppose to be a great reliable and powerful set up on just about anything.

A lot depends on what direction you want to take it. The engines come very lean from the factory, so a header and air filter kit will help you. Once you have better flow in the engine, we need to add more fuel. Typically a .037 or .038 jet will help you.
Throw away the stock spark plug and get one of these

advance the timing with one of these. Stock is 24 degrees BTDC, and this will get you to 32 degrees

If you really want to move, you need some billet parts and remove the governor. Billet parts keep you safe and will give a solid foundation to build on.

I second the billet pieces. If you get a billet rod, a good flywheel and some stiffer valve springs the motor pretty bullet proof after that at least with some bolt on's.
